The apartment is located in the coastal houses on the former Tuborg factory site north of Copenhagen. The building extends into the sea, why the interior design supports the experience of being close to nature. The new owners wished for a comfortable, evocative environment as a framework for the furniture and objects collected from a long life in their previous home.

The large yellow brick facades and the light reflected from the sea and the sky would make white-colored walls too bright. Therefore, walls are lime rendered in a sand color, complimenting the brick façade, creating a close relation between the interior and exterior. Simultaneously the dark crimson-colored curtains filter the light in a soft, poetic way, when drawn.

Separate zones for different types of living
We have divided the large living room facing the sea into smaller areas with separate zones for work, relaxation, dining and reading. The zones are marked by rugs and furnished by distinctive, individual clusters of furniture. Carefully selected lamps provide the correct type of light for the various situations. These choices give the room several dimensions making it a versatile and beautiful room for every-day living.

From a residence to a home
We have custom designed three storage solutions for the living room. The custom designed shelving behind the workspace and above the sofa are assembled from black steel profiles, oak-veneered shelves and drawers of finger-jointed Oregon pine as well as the built-in shelving by the terrace door. The steel is a material drawing on the site’s industrial heritage dating back to the Tuborg Breweries, while the oak provides warmth. The storage solutions provide the owners with display solutions for their personal items, supporting a sense of belonging and the creation of a home.

In the bedroom the custom designed fitted wardrobe in Oregon pine joins the headboard and floors to create an intimate and protective atmosphere.
